1. Tanjung Simpang Mengayau - The Tip of Borneo
(50-60 minutes drive from PR Monungkus)

This dramatic headland is situated in the northern-most tip of BORNEO, the third largest island in the world, after Greenland and New Guinea. It is located in the Kudat Peninsula, about three and a half hours (or 215 kilometres) drive from Kota Kinabalu City.

Simpang Mengayau means 'lingering junction' as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east ... Enjoy the stunning view. The sunsets and full moons are just beautiful ... The Pulau Kalampunian lighthouse is a reminder of treacherous coastline and past shipwrecks. On the left is the beautiful beach of Pantai Kalampunian. It's a lovely easy stroll to the flagpole, the Globe and the rocky outcrop that forms the "Tip of Borneo".
Admission is Free

2. Kg. Sumangkap (Gong Factory)
(5-10 minutes drive from PR Monungkus)

In keeping with Kudat's ‘One Village, One Product' concept, Kampung Sumangkap situated less than a kilometre from Kg. Gombizau (the Honey Bee Village) is where gongs are produced. The Village is 92 kilometres or about two hours drive from Kota Kinabalu City.

Gongs feature importantly in all ethnic celebrations, be it merry or somber, and here in Kudat they are made by about ten artisans who will readily show you the art of making the gongs from scratch. The finished gongs are set in frames horizontally or hung vertically and vary in sizes from small souvenir items to huge ones up to two metres across, mainly for decorative purposes. It is possible to do on-the-spot buying, or for bigger purchases, order ahead. (Admission Fee: RM3)

3. Kampung Gombizau (Honey Bee Farm)
(5-10 minutes drive from PR Monungkus)

Kudat district's ‘One Village, One Product' concept has made Kampung Gombizau into a honey-producing village, where you can see how the villagers smoke the bees out, gather the honey and prepare it for sale. All this among the cool surroundings of the village houses.

Located 43 kilometres from Kudat town and about 90 kilometres or two hours from KK City, you can reach it by bus, chartered vehicle or through a local tour operator. (Admission Fee: RM3)
